I, along with countless thousands of others no doubt, will be attending something at LDN’s Internet Week.  Incredibly popular in New York there are numerous events happening all over London starting Monday.  From bacon sandwiches at Mother to fancy dress at Silicon Roundabout, there’s plenty of fun events and lots of serious ones for noobs and the more experienced alike.  Make sure you make it to something.  You owe it to yourself, your clients and the industry!!!  VIVA LE SCHMOOZE! Tips below for first timers at events like this.

1) Find what is relevant to you, create a schedule and then add two things that will stretch you.

2) Businesscards – don’t forget them.  Make new friends and chat with people you don’t know – this is about pushing things forward as much as celebrating good work.  Ask questions, everyone is still learning and no-one knows everything.

3) Don’t get too merry.  This is a social media event after all and photos are likely to be taken.  Takes these if privacy is an issue for you.

4) If you are tweeting/blogging – thanks sponsors – I don’t do this enough but it’s good – without them it’s near impossible to pop on events on this scale.

5) Afterwards – dwell on your experiences – think about what worked and what didn’t.  For you, for others and then think about what event you’ll offer next year!
