Did Facebook just become a (bigger) threat to broadcasters or their saviour?

I’ve been saying for years someone needs to figure out how to do a news or current affairs program using Facebook and it seems Facebook have finally figured out they have a place in the content world… albeit with a little bit of a damp squib but hey a squib never the less.  First they allowed Channel 5 to broadcast through them (nice/not that squibby actually btw) but then they launched Facebook Live last week in an “it’s ok is all” kind of way.  I kind of imagined and wanted more though.  Weird content choice (Ugly Betty crossover movie ‘The Dry Land‘ for America Ferrar) and generally a lack of production value but it kind of worked.  Possibly to a few less (360) than imagined given the 500 million potential reach.  That said this has massive potential.  Thoughts?
