29 floors, 3 coffees and a lot of PowerPoint later…

Spent the morning with Kindred colleague Kate Worswick sipping on coffee and cookies on the 29th floor of Altitude 360 for IDM B2B Marketing Conference.  In addition to the the stunning views of London there were other interesting viewpoints from most participants we saw.  Disappointing lack of tweeting going on with the 70/30 suit/skirt (sic) “older” crowd that attended (average age 37+).  Despite the use of @socialnomics video and crazy large stats being thrown out at every turn there was some genuine insight from the Cisco presentation and Marketing Prof. Paul Fifield in particular.  Both gents really grabbed social media by the balls and squeezed.  I was particularly impressed by the way Cisco has focused their  approach and compliment free tools with paid services like Radian6.

KATE’S TAKEAWAY:  Seeing businesses move forward from direct ROI to long-term strategy mentality.
MY TAKEAWAY: The level of knowledge out there varies but the fears stay the same.
